Watch the feature-length documentary film “Let the People Decide” – a film about the struggle for voting rights from the 1960’s to right now – and later participate in a panel-discussion with the film-maker, Gavin Guerra, and three special guests who appear in the film.

Let The People Decideexplores the history of the struggle of voting rights from the 1960’s through the present day. The story connects the dots across the decades to show how the hotly debated issues of race & voting did not spring from a vacuum, but have been woven into the fabric of our society for generations.
You’ll have the opportunity to watch the film at a time of your convenience or to watch it just prior to the panel discussion on July 13.

Gavin Guerra, producer/director, has worked in the Visual Effects field for the past 30 years, working on projects ranging from feature films to video games. For the past seven years he has also been directing and producing documentary films. Yara Allen is a singer, songwriter, poet, musician & Director of Theomusicology & Cultural Arts with Repairers of the Breach & Co-Director of Theomusicology & Movement Arts with the Poor People’s Campaign:: A National Call for Moral Revival. Bob Zellner is one of the most influential leaders in the Civil Rights Movement, from the 1960s to today. As an organizer of The Freedom Rides of 1961 & the first white southerner to serve as field secretary for the SNCC, he worked alongside MLK Jr & many other civil rights leaders. Derick Smith has a Master’s degree focused in Political Science and Government from Fayetteville State University. Derick is a community organizer and lecturer at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University

There is a suggested donation of $5 per viewer/zoom attendee. The proceeds from this event will be divided 50/50 between the sponsoring organizations and the film maker to pay for world-wide distribution rights on the historical footage used in the film.
