Read more →The 2013 Orange County Hate Crime Report shows an increase in violent hate crimes, or crimes against people and a decrease in crimes against property like vandalism. “We cannot stand for violence of any kind and violence motivated by hate is no exception. The Commission believes that a crime against one of us, is a crime against all of us, this report tells us that we must remain vigilant in our work to eliminate prejudice and discrimination in Orange County”, said Commission Chair Ken Inouye.
Read more →June 29, 2014: OC Civil Rights History Exhibit is opening on July 2, 2014, the 50th Anniversary of the day that President Lyndon Baines Johnson signed the US Civil Rights Act into law. This unique exhibit will feature large displays created by the graphic artist, Susan Reese, and curated by OC Human Relations Commission. The Commission was created nearly a half century ago to insure that this national vision for fairness and equality was a shared value and that the Board of Supervisors would work to make it real in Orange County.
