Police‐Community Relations
Tustin PD & Youth Dialogue: On 4/26, Commission staff completed a 4-week dialogue with Tustin high
school students and Tustin PD officers. Tustin PD has expressed interest in expanding this program in
other Tustin schools. Program dates this month: 4/5, 4/12 & 4/26

Intergroup Relations
Hate Free OC Campaign

Hate Crime & Incidents Identified in March:

  • On 4/4, Commission director conducts hate crime presentation for a partner agency via invitation.
  • On 4/18 & 4/19, Commission staff promote the Hate Free OC campaign at Golden West College.
  • On 4/20, Commission staff attends and hosts a Hate Free Campaign table at the OC Interfaith
    Network Forum #2 in Santa Ana, CA

Community Outreach & Presentations:

  • On 4/5, Commission staff participates in CAHRO conference call.
  • On 4/6 & 4/7, Commission staff attend Safety Conference at UCI campus.
  • On 4/23, Commission staff attended Vesak Buddhist Celebration at Dieu Ngu Temple.
  • On 4/24, Commission Director meets with LGBT Center of OC staff to discuss diversity, hate crime
    programming and support.
  • On 4/24, Commission staff attend Acculturation & Trauma presentations at Sisters of Saint Joseph.
  • On 4/25, Commission staff attend Human Relations Commission meeting

Commission Director One-on-Ones:

  • Commission Director met with Michael Reynolds and Bekele Demissie this month.
  • Commission Director met with new OCCR Director, Dylan Wright, and staff.

Community Building and Training

 Sherriff’s Academy Training: On 4/11, Commission staff conducted diversity training for 63 recruits.
