The first 2020 Census invitations are being received in mailboxes across Orange County from the U.S. Census Bureau to participate in the 2020 Census.

With your unique and confidential household code, you will be able to visit the census website and access your form on any computer, tablet or mobile device!

What is the 2020 Census: The U.S. Constitution mandates a census of the population every 10 years. The 2020 Census will count everyone who lives in the U.S. as of April 1, 2020. Census statistics help determine the number of seats each state holds in the U.S. House of Representatives and how billions of dollars in federal funds will be allocated by state, local, and federal lawmakers every year for the next 10 years. 

Who does the census impact:  EVERYONE! The census is a national headcount, every household in the United States is counted.

When is the Census: Census day is April 1st and the census questionnaires will be distributed March 12 – 20

Where do I complete it: The census can be filled out anywhere and only takes 10 minutes to complete

How do I Respond to the Census (use only one method):

  • Online via emailed invitation
  • Over the Phone 
  • Paper questionnaire
  • Note, many public libraries, including the Santa Ana library, can provide assistance with online access

Important things to note while completing the census:

  • Include everyone expected to live in your house as of April 1st
