Earlier this year, OC Human Relations invited students to write short, inspirational speeches in light of this year’s 50th Anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I Have a Dream” speech. Students were asked to focus on how they still have a dream or on the status of that dream today. The YouthSpeak contest attracted many amazing entries from schools across the county. This year’s winner was Vanessa Le from Spring View Middle School (Huntington Beach), and the runners-up were Christine J. Panlasigui from Buena Park Jr. High (Buena Park) and Marisol Morales from Early College High School (Newport Beach).
On May 7, 2013, OC Human Relations Community Partner Don Crevier invited the three YouthSpeak finalists to a special check presentation at Crevier Classic Cars.
