About OC Human Relations

OUR MISSION

To foster mutual understanding among residents and eliminate prejudice, intolerance and discrimination in order to make Orange county a better place for ALL people to live, work and do business”

The Orange County Human Relations Council (more commonly known as OC Human Relations) is a private, non-profit 501(c)3 organization founded in 1991 for the purpose of developing and implementing proactive human relations programs in partnership with schools, corporations, cities, foundations and individuals. OC Human Relations provides an award-winning inter-group and violence prevention program in the schools, and conflict resolution programs and inter-group relations initiatives in the communities all over Orange County. Supported through grants, donations, fees and contracts, the non-profit is governed by a Board of Directors consisting of diverse community leaders and guided by a Community Partners Advisory Board that is comprised of executives from major corporations and institutions.

The Orange County Human Relations Commission, from which OC Human Relations grew, has its webpages on the County of Orange website – you can access the Commission’s web pages by clicking here.

At OC Human Relations we’re passionate about making Orange County a better place for ALL people to live, work, go to school and do business

Building community is not always easy, but we do it by fostering respect and mutual understanding, addressing bias and prejudice, resolving conflict and developing diverse leaders.

Our expertise in addressing prejudice, discrimination and conflict through collaborative and inclusive efforts is the key to developing successful leaders.

We guide, support, train and empower leaders of all ages from schools, neighborhoods, businesses, government, law enforcement, educational institutions and community groups.

Our non-profit has been bringing together diverse people to solve today’s critical human relations issues for almost 30 years

OC Human Relations provides programs in collaboration with schools, individuals, cities, businesses, foundations and the county to support a vision of an Orange County where our diversity is realized as a source of strength.

We envision a community where all people feel valued and included, and we are about the business of creating the model programs that can bring life to our vision.

Our ever-growing relationships and long-standing, trusted community partnerships help us build bridges of respect between diverse people in Orange County, especially in times of conflict.

We provide proactive, inter-group relations and violence prevention programs in schools and communities throughout Orange County.  Our programs reach more than 50,000 Orange County residents annually.  You can help further our mission by making a financial contribution.

United, We Can Make a Difference

Your support  helps to ensure that our programs continue to make a significant impact in the community by:

  • Creating Safe and Inclusive Schools and Communities through our award winning BRIDGES school program.
  • Developing Diverse Leaders through programs that empower people to have a voice in the decision making processes of the institutions that affect their lives.
  • Mediating Conflict by encouraging dialog as an alternative to violence and litigation.
  • Building Understanding and Respect among diverse communities, law enforcement and residents so we can discover that we have more in common as human beings than that which separates us into isolated groups.

Our Programs

To reach these objectives we offer three major programs that form the foundation of our work: BRIDGES School Program; Community Building; & Dispute Resolution.  The video below gives an overview of our programs and introduces some of our staff.

All of our programs are made possible by the generous support of individuals, foundations, businesses and corporations and by our volunteers and Community Partners who give generously of their time and talents.
