50 years ago Martin Luther King Jr. delivered the “I Have A Dream Speech,” yet today we are still striving for equality.  Earlier this year,  OC Human Relations invited 8-12 graders to prepare a short, inspirational speech about what that dream means to young people today and how they can be the generation to make it come true.

An impressive number of wonderful, inspiring speeches were received.   Although it was difficult to narrow them down, the three finalists were invited to deliver their speeches to members of the OC Human Relations Commission. After much deliberation, the winner was selected to be  Vanessa Le, an 8th grader from Spring View Middle School, Huntington Beach.

Vanessa delivered her speech at Awards 42, May 2nd, 2013.

Following are the speeches of the 3 finalists.
