OC Human Relations’ annual YouthSpeak Speech Contest is a county-wide search for the top human relations speech written by an 8th-12th grade student. This year, students were asked to submit a short, inspirational speech reflecting on what we can say or do as individuals to make all people feel welcome and included in our great nation.
After reading through a multitude of high-quality entries and listening to the speeches of the short-listed students, the Board of OC Human Relations selected Lucinda Marvel, an 8th grade student at Oak Middle School in Los Alamitos, as the recipient of the 2016 award.
Lucinda delivered her speech at Awards 45 on May 5 and received a cash scholarship.
