A recent Everday RJ training cohort

Overview

Everyday RJ is usually a 2-day introduction to restorative justice and its practical application in our everyday lives. However, because of COVID-19, we’ve modified it to be a 3-day online training. You’ll learn about a number of tools which can build and maintain community, including community building circles and restorative communication,

I was so grateful to have this opportunity. It was so helpful to have this experiential learning experience & be in a circle all day!

The Training

Over the course of the training, participants will:

  • learn how to lead community building circles to help build stronger communities through storytelling, dialogue and open conversations
  • learn and practice restorative communication which combines interpersonal communication techniques of affective language (I-Messages), active listening, and restorative questions to create opportunities for respectful, reflective engagement during times of conflict and challenge.

I especially appreciated the honesty from our presenters. They didn’t try to sugarcoat or be overly positive. They were relatable.
