OC Human Relations to Honor OC Business for Embracing Diversity, Respect, and Inclusion in the Workplace on May 4

Seeking Nominations of Local Businesses and Corporations by 4pm, February 23

 

What:   For 46 years, OC Human Relations has been honoring individuals, law enforcement, schools and community organizations for their contributions to human relations in Orange County. For the third year, OC Human Relations will also honor a business or corporation for embracing the principles of diversity, respect, and inclusion in the workplace.

Nominations are being accepted for outstanding businesses or corporations that have gone above and beyond ordinary practices to embrace the principles of diversity and inclusion in the workplace.  The Distinguished Business Award will be presented at the OC Human Relations AWARDS 46 celebration dinner on May 4, 2017 at the City National Grove of Anaheim.

To date, the recipients of the OC Human Relations Distinguished Business Award include The Disneyland Resort, PIMCO, Union Bank, U.S. Bank, and Wells Fargo.

Distinguished Business Award nomination criteria include: 

  • CEO commitment to diversity and inclusion;
  • Human resource practices that promote diversity in the workplace;
  • Corporate/organizational communication initiatives that promote inclusion in the workplace;
  • Supplier/contractor diversity;
  • Community involvement with the goal of making Orange County a better place for all to work and live;
  • A business or corporation with employees who work in Orange County, CA.

Who:      Nominations are invited from the business community and from area residents who know of a business they feel is worthy of this honor.  Businesses also are welcome and invited to nominate themselves for this award.

Why:      Businesses with exemplary diversity and inclusion practices help lead the way to greater mutual understanding among all residents of Orange County and make our county a better place for all people to live, work and do business.

When:    The business award nomination deadline is 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 23, 2017.
